Christopher Bainham
Chris was the first child of Leslie and Gwen Bainham, followed by his sister Mary (born 2.5.46) and Andrew (born 16.5.53). He was educated at Newport High School for Boys and then went to University in Lampeter and did his post graduate teaching qualification at Swansea University. He taught in Walsall and Wolverhampton, but decided he wanted to work in a more rural area with primary school children and obtained a job at Sir Henry Fermor Primary School in Crowborough, East Sussex. He became responsible for Maths, the School Orchestra and Computers. He played and taught the clarinet and chess. In his leisure time he played tennis, squash, the piano and loved Bridge. He was also interested in trains, stamp collecting, bird watching, watching Newport play rugby (preferably) and football, and had been bell ringing at more than 3,500 churches.
